An Indication of Cost for the Different Systems.

The basic tracking system will cost somewhere around £295 / £395 (depending on options). At the other extreme, the combined Navigation, Messaging and Data Terminal will be around £1,400 per vehicle. The running cost will be between 45p and a little over a pound a day, respectively.

However in truth - it won't actual cost you anything, because you will save all the above cost (and then some) with the savings in fuel and the increase in efficiency.

The cost of a system on lease:

For most users, the Hardware and Software can be 'lumped together' on finance. This will average out at a cost of a little over £1 a day (per vehicle)* for the basic system. You should save that in fuel cost alone. *(This figure is based on purchasing basic mobile units and financing over 3 years with no deposit).

The only other cost is airtime (see above). In other words we have no hidden cost unlike other systems, that you only find out about, after you have purchased the equipment. The figures quoted, allow for frequent updates from your vehicle, unlike many other systems.

At the other end of the scale: A full navigating system, using the VDO unit. Plus a data terminal to receive and transmit job details, all the radio hardware, including the airtime, installed in a transit van - Will cost a little over £3 a day (per vehicle)*

The cost to a company running just a couple of vehicles:

If you are a very small operator and especially if you don't need to look at your vehicles all the time, you may not need the expense of your own base station (host). To this end MTS have the facility to host your vehicles for you. What this means is the vehicles transmit back to a dedicated server at Fareham.

We then supply you with some software to connect to this server, from your very own computer, usually via the internet. This way, the cost of the host is divided over a number of users, history is still built up and you 'Log In' when you need to view it.

Alternatively the internet can be used, to monitor your possession. For an example of this, click on the working demo option in the left frame. This will take you to a free internet page, where you can see your vehicle live. It is also possible to playback the days locations.
